5月も中旬になり、暑い日も増えてきましたが皆様いかがお過ごしでしょうか？

それでは本日もボキャブラリーレッスン、始めていきます！

1. 90年代アメリカのオルタナティブロックバンド
本日はPavementの「Embassy Row」を使用していきます！
Pavementは、1990年代USオルタナ、ローファイ・シーンを代表する伝説的5人組バンドです。
以前もご紹介しましたが、大好きなので改めてご紹介させていただきます！（笑）
彼らの大きな特徴と言えば「ローファイであること」です。
楽器のサウンドに加工がほとんどされておらず、楽器そのまま音で演奏されているような出来に仕上がっています。
一聴すると、完成度が低いようにも聞こえますが、Pavementの場合は「加工の少なさ」がかっこよさに繋がっています。
※どのアーティストであっても、世に出回っている音源は楽器の有無を問わず、音が加工されています。
※音の加工が少ない場合、演奏や歌唱の難易度がぐんと上がります。
完全に感覚の話なので、とにかく聞いていただくことをお勧めいたします！（笑）

①intuition
intuition（名）：直感（力）、〔直感で得られた〕知識、洞察
intuit（動）：〔～を〕直観する、〔～を〕直観で知る［捉える］
intuitive（形）：直感（力）の、〔物事が〕直感的な、直感で理解できる
【文章例】
1. intuition（名）： The nurse had an intuition that the patient was in serious condition.
2. intuit（動）：I can intuit that he is lying.
3. intuitive（形）：This theory makes intuitive sense.
【意味】
1. 看護師はその患者が深刻な状態にあると直感を得た。
2. 彼が嘘をついていることが直感で分かる。
3. この理論は直感的に理にかなっていると認識できます。
②devotion
devotion（名）：献身的愛情、〔無私の〕愛、宗教的情熱、〔強い〕信仰心
devote（動）：〔自分自身を〕専念させる、打ち込ませる、〔人の時間や注意などを〕充てる、向ける
devotional（形）：礼拝の［に用いられる］、信心［信仰・祈り］の［に関する］、信心深い、敬けんな
【文章例】
1. devotion（名）：He will long be remembered and admired for his devotion to his job and his patients.
2. devote（動）：I plan to devote summer vacation to my study.
3. devotional（形）：She loved listening to devotional music.
【意味】
1. 彼の仕事と患者に対する情熱により、彼は長く記憶にとどめられ、賞賛されるだろう。
2. 夏休みは研究にあてるつもりだ。
3. 彼女は聖歌に耳を傾けることが大好きでした。
③wide
wide（形）：～の幅がある、～幅の、〔物の〕幅が広い、幅広の、大きく開いた、いっぱいに開けた
width（名）：〔物や場所の〕（横）幅、〔織物などの単位となる〕幅、〔知識などの〕幅広さ、広がり
widely（副）：広く、幅広く、広範囲にわたって、〔笑みなどが〕満面に、大きく、大いに、非常に
【文章例】
1. wide（形）：He opened the door wide.
2. width（名）：He measured the width of the road.
3. widely（副）：The news spread widely across the country.
【意味】
1. 彼はドアを広く開けた。
2. 彼は道の幅を測った。
3. そのニュースは国中に広まりました。
