みなさんこんにちは！はるゆきです！
7月末になり、学生の方はそろそろ夏休みですね！
実際に、まとまったお休みでIELTS対策を開始する予定の方が多くいらっしゃいます！
一般的には0.5のスコアを上げるためには「約200~300時間」のIELTS学習の時間が必要と言われております。
しかし、短期間の学習であっても、密度が濃く、効率が良ければ一部の方はスコアを上げています。
基本的に、スコアを上げるためには長期的な学習をする必要がある英語試験ではありますが、短期であってもやらないよりはやることが大切です。
少しでも学習時間を確保するために、お休み期間を有効活用していきましょう！
それでは本日もボキャブラリーレッスン、始めていきます！

1. スコットランド出身のインディー・ポップバンド
今回はBelle and Sebastianの「I Want the World to Stop」を使用していきます！
1996年にスコットランド・グラスゴーにて結成。大所帯のバンドで、「ギター、ベース、ドラム」という基本的な編成に加え、トランペットやホルンといった管楽器、チェロ、バイオリンといった弦楽器の専門のメンバーが在籍していて、多彩な音楽性を魅せてくれるグループです。
ライブやPVを見ていて、バンド全体の雰囲気として「品」があるなと常々感じていましたが、どうやらギター・ボーカルのスチュアート・リー・マードックはスコットランドの教会で神父を務めている人物であり、その傍ら、音楽活動を始めたという異色の経歴を持っているようです。
「品」の正体は職業だったのでしょうか。。

①stop
stop（動）：〔動作や行為などを〕やめる、中断する、阻止する、思いとどまらせる
stoppage（名）：中止すること、停止、閉塞
stopper（名）：止める人、止めるもの、止め具、移動制限装置、妨害物、〔びんなどの〕栓
【文章例】
1. stop（動）：The printing job can be stopped by pressing the button.
2. stoppage（名）：There was a stoppage in the supply of goods.
3. stopper（名）：I need a bottle stopper to seal the wine.
【意味】
1. このボタンを押すと、印刷作業を停止することができます。
2. 商品の供給にストップがかかっていた。
3. ワインを密閉するためにボトルストッパーが必要です。
②equal
equal（形）：〔大きさや価値などが〕等しい、同一の、〔権利や機会などが〕平等な、公平な
equalization（名）：同等化、均等化、平等化、平準化
equation（名）：等しくすること、平均化、均衡、方程式
【文章例】
1. equal（形）：Men and women should have equal rights.
2. equalization（名）：The government implemented an equalization policy to address income disparities.
3. equation（名）：Math class is all about solving equations.
【意味】
1. 男性と女性は等しい権利を持つべきである。
2. 政府は所得格差を解決するために均等化政策を実施しました。
3. 数学の授業は全て方程式を解くことについてです。
③adorable
adorable（形）：〔動物・子どもなどが〕かわいい、かわいらしい、愛らしい、魅力的な
adorableness（名）：〔動物・子どもなどの〕かわいらしさ、愛らしさ
adorably（副）：愛らしく、かわいく、ほれぼれするほど
【文章例】
1. adorable（形）：Isn’t he adorable?
2. adorableness（名）：I can’t resist the adorableness of kittens.
3. adorably（副）：The kitten curled up adorably in my lap.
【意味】
1. 彼、かわいらしいでしょう？
2. 子猫のかわいらしさには抗えません。
3. 子猫は私の膝の上で可愛らしくくるんとした。
