本日はFountains Of Wayneの「Hey Julie」を扱っていきます！

1996年に幼馴染のアダム・シュレシンジャーとクリス・コリングウッドの2人を中心にバンド結成。
2人が知り合ったきっかけは、アダムが当時R.E.M.の曲を弾いていたところ、あまりのコードの違いぶりにクリスが正しいコードを教えてあげたことらしいです。
いいエピソード。笑

彼らはジャンルとしては「パワーポップ」と呼ばれています。
「ポップ」に「パワー」が付くほどに美メロの耳障りの良い楽曲が多いんです！

（人を）つまずかせる、（人の）足をすくう、（人の）揚げ足を取る、つまづいて転ぶ

句動詞で使われています。
表現として覚えておきましょう。
「つまずいて転ぶ」の場合はこのように使えますね。
・I tripped up on a rock. : 私は石につまずいて転倒しました。

すり減る、すり減らす、疲れさせる

こちらも句動詞です。
同義語としては以下があります。

先のない、つかみどころのない、要領を得ない、無意味な、よく分からない、無気力な

【文章例】

【意味】
私たちがやっていることは無駄だと思い始めた。
