みなさんこんにちは！はるゆきです！
突然ですが、こう思う方はいらっしゃいませんか。
❝趣味に勉強を持ち込みたくない❞
その気持ち、分かります。
趣味がつまらなくなりそうですよね。。
しかし！
好きな曲の歌詞を使って、ボキャブラリーを学ぶことは寧ろ楽しいです！
歌詞の意味にも向き合えるし、新しい知識を得られます。
一石二鳥ってやつですね。
曲もボキャブラリーも変わるので飽きがこない！

1. オーストラリア、メルボルン出身のシンガー・ソングライター
今回はVance Joyの「Riptide」を使用していきます！
オーストラリア、メルボルン出身のシンガー・ソングライターです。
2013年にリリースしたEP『God Loves You When You’re Dancing』 に収録されている「Riptide」が地元オーストラリアでチャートでTOP10に輝き、さらにUK、スウェーデン、カナダ、ドイツなどの各国でヒットを記録しました。
全米のオルタナティヴ系ラジオ局チャートの1位になったことも！
学生時代はBloc Party（いつか紹介します）というバンドに影響を受けて、活動していたそうです。
独特な声の持ち主で、どこか海を感じさせるような楽曲が多いです。
爽やかさと切なさが混在した声はとても魅力的です！

3. 今回使用するボキャブラリーはこちら！
①run down
（液体）下の方へ流れる、流れ落ちる、（機械などが）徐々に動かなくなり停止する
【文章例】
When I heard this, I laughed till tears ran down my face.
【意味】
この話を聞いたとき、笑い過ぎて涙が出ました。
曲中では句動詞として使われていてますが、形容詞として使われる場合もあります。
【run downの形容詞での意味】
・疲れ果てた、疲れ切った
・病気の、体調が優れない
・荒廃した、荒れ放題の
・（建物などが）壊れかけた、老朽化した
・（ねじが巻かれていないために）動かない
②riptide
激流、荒海、潮衝
【文章例】
The riptide was pulling a surfer under.
【意味】
激しい潮流がサーファーを引きずり込んでいた。
「波」や「さざ波」ではないという点に注意ですね！
③head to / for
〜へ行く、～に向かう
【文章例】
I’ll head to Europe.
【意味】
私はヨーロッパへ行きます。
「～へ行く」という意味で使われています。
ネイティブが日常会話で「〜へ行く」を表現する際に❝go to❞の代わりによく使われる口頭的な表現です。
❝head to❞と❝head for❞は意味は同じですが、地方によってどちらを使うかは異なるようです。
❝head to❞を使用した表現では以下のようなものがあります。
【head toを使用した表現】
・head up to：北の方角に向かう
・head down to：南の方角に向かう
・head out：出発する
・head back：帰る
