1. ジャンルの壁を壊す天才
今回はBeckの「Where It’s At」を使用していきます！
Beckは、アメリカ・カリフォルニア出身のシンガーソングライター、マルチインストゥルメンタリストです。
1990年代初頭から活動を開始し、1994年にリリースした「Loser」の大ヒットによって一躍注目を集めました！
彼の音楽は一つのジャンルにとどまらず、フォーク、ヒップホップ、ロック、ファンク、エレクトロニカなど多様なスタイルを自在に取り入れるのが特徴です。そのため「音楽のカメレオン」とも言われることもあるようです。
代表作には、グラミー賞を受賞した『Morning Phase』（2014年）や、『Odelay』（1996年）、『Sea Change』（2002年）などがあります。それぞれ異なる音楽的アプローチが取られており、彼の実験的かつ革新的な姿勢がうかがえます。
また、歌詞や世界観も独特で、ウィットとアイロニーを含んだ文学的な表現が評価されています。

①habitation
habitation（名）：居住（地）、住まい
habitat（名）：〔動植物の〕生息環境、生息地、生息場所
habitable（形）：〔家・建物などが〕居住に適した、居住可能な、可住な
【文章例】
1. habitation（形）：The forest is a natural habitation for many species of birds.
2. habitat（名）：Much of the bear’s habitat has been destroyed.
3. habitable（形）：Mars is not a habitable planet.
【意味】
1. その森は多くの鳥の自然な生息地です。
2. クマの生息地の多くが破壊されてきた。
3. 火星は居住可能な惑星ではありません。
②elevator
elevator（名）：エレベーター
elevatory（形）：高める（主に詩や技術的な文脈で使用される）
elevate（動）：持ち上げる、昇進させる、〔声・気持ちを〕高める
【文章例】
1. elevator（名）：The elevator was out of order.
2. elevatory（形）：The speech had an elevatory effect on the audience, filling them with hope.
3. elevate（動）：Ironically, death often elevates the popularity of musicians or actors.
【意味】
1. エレベーターは故障していた。
2. そのスピーチは聴衆に高揚感を与え、希望で満たした。
3. 皮肉なことに、死がミュージシャンや俳優の人気を高めることがよくある。
③plastic
plastic（形）：プラスチックの、ビニールの、影響を受けやすい、形成可能な
plasticity（名）：可塑性、柔軟性
plasticize（動）：〔～を〕可塑化する、〔～を〕柔軟にする
【文章例】
1. plastic（形）：The artist prefers using plastic materials that can be easily molded into different shapes.
2. plasticity（名）：The plasticity of the material allowed it to be molded into various shapes.
3. plasticize（動）：Add water to plasticize the clay.
【意味】
1. そのアーティストは、さまざまな形に簡単に成形できるプラスチック素材を使うのが好きです。
2. 素材の柔軟性により、さまざまな形に成形できた
3. 水を加えて粘土を柔らかくしなさい。
